M&C Journal: Summer Skincare
It’s FINALLY starting to get warmer! Hooray!
The change in seasons means trading your ski hats for sunglasses, winter boots for strappy sandals and scarves for sunscreen. But it also means ante up some of your skincare products in your daily skincare routine for best results during hot summer months!
We envision ourselves to have that sun-kissed, glowing skin on our face while enjoying the sun-filled hot summer time. Reality check! We normally end up with sticky, sweaty, and oily skin—no matter what season it is, we still have to take time for our skin.
EXFOLIATION
Say goodbye to dead, peeling, and dry skin you can get from the sun and heat!
By exfoliating our skin, we remove the dead skin cells to make way for the newly rejuvenated skin underneath. Without this process, we let the dead skin cells build up, which clogs our pores further causing blemishes and acne. After exfoliation, use of good moisturizing products will help retain moisture, and create healthy, glowing skin.
Recommendations: Exfoliate two to three times a week for normal and combination skin, and once a week for sensitive skin. Exfoliating everyday can strip the skin of its natural oils, which can cause irritation, breakouts or damage to your skin.

SUN CARE & UV PROTECTION SPF
A crucial step in your daytime skincare routine is sunscreen. Most will think you only need sunscreen when you are out in the sun. Absolutely NOT! A sunscreen is an absolute MUST, 365 days a year (rain or shine!). Even if the sun isn’t shining directly on us, UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds, causing dryness and damage to your skin. There is no use applying all those serums and treatments to address your skin issues if you’re going to undermine the importance of protecting your skin from damaging UV rays.
It is the best anti-aging product to wear sun care products every day. Period. Healthy skin=Sunscreen!

LIP CARE
While you’re lathering your face, don’t forget to care for your lips too. Keep those lips moist and sexy for that surprise summer kiss!

MOISTURIZERS
Summertime also means dry and dehydrated skin from constant exposure to the sun. Summertime calls for lighter moisturizers, such as emulsion in lotion texture or in gel form to soothe sunburned skin. These moisturizers provide excellent hydration without weighing you down.
Whether you are by poolside at the community center or on the shore of white sandy beaches, don’t forget to pack one of these in your beach bag. Don’t let the sun dry out your skin, be sure to hydrate, hydrate, and hydrate no matter what type of moisturizer that suits you the best.
